Not only do the Hogue OverMolded stocks look cool, they actually improve your rifle in some very important ways.  They are built from a rigid fiberglass reinforced skeleton which fits the receiver very tightly to eliminate any accuracy robbing movement in the receiver.  The unique OverMolded non-slip molded exterior is the best part, though, as it's soft and grippy, but still durable.  It's almost like a huge Hogue grip for your rifle, keeping the rifle from slipping in your hands or against your shoulder, which helps you make the perfect shot, especially during three position shooting.

These stocks include sling studs, a comfortable recoil pad (probably not needed on a rimfire rifle, but still nice), and they are extremely quiet if you're in a situation where you'd rather not be heard.  The Ruger 10/22 drops right in for a perfect fit without any tools needed other than a screwdriver to remove the takedown screw.  Just take the barreled action out of the old stock, drop it in the new stock, and you're done.

Note that with a standard installation, the Hogue Overmolded stocks are designed to "pressure bed" the barrel at the end of the barrel channel just like the OEM Ruger stock does.  Remember that with this type of stock system the torque settings on the takedown screw are important, and have a noticeable effect on accuracy.  If you don't have a torque wrench, tighten the takedown screw firmly.  Accuracy can be improved with the use of a torque wrench.  Start with 15 inch-pounds of torque on the takedown screw, and see how the rifle shoots.  Try lower or higher torque settings between 10 inch-pounds and 20 inch-pounds to find the best setting for your rifle.

If desired, the Hogue Overmolded stock is designed to allow a "free floated" barrel installation.  Inside the stock are contact points which can be either filed or shimmed to adjust whether the barrel "pressure beds" or is free floated.  With a heavy steel barrel on the aluminum Ruger receiver you'll generally achieve better results with a "pressure bed" type installation (adjust the torque on the takedown screw just like you would with a standard barrel), however lighter aluminum or graphite barrels may perform better if free floated.
